Robert’s Expanding Vocabulary

Robert is now just over 1 year and 5 months old. At his last doctor’s visit he was 33 inches in height (82nd percentile) and 24 pounds 9 ounces in weight (40th percentile).

Besides getting a lot taller, he has also been speaking more. He can say many different words to cover a variety of topics.

Robert in Bulgaria

Robert went on his second international trip. This time, he traveled to Bulgaria.

The long plane ride was a bit of a challenge for Robert, but once we arrived and settled in, he started to enjoy himself. He met some of his Bulgarian relatives for the first time, including his great grandmother.

Robert particularly liked playing in dirt, being in the pool, trying to whistle, and playing with the two children his age. By the end of the trip, Robert seemed to understand a lot of Bulgarian. We would tell him to do something in Bulgarian and he would immediately comply. He could also say several words in Bulgarian.

Robert Turns 1 Year Old

Robert is now one year old! He first celebrated his birthday with his brother Jason at a combined party ten days early. Then, on March 29, 2011, he had a mini party with his parents and grandparents.

At one year old, Robert is becoming more active and mischievous. He tends to want to do exactly the things we tell him not to do. Even though he took his first steps more than a month ago, he still likes to get around by crawling, although he is spending more time on his feet every day. He says a few different words like “Mama” and “Baba”, but he communicates pretty well by saying “Eh!” in various tones or volumes.

Robert gets along very well with his brother Jason. They share many of the same interests such as playing with trains and eating cucumbers. The only problem is when they both want to play with the same toy.
