Almost Christmas

At almost one year and nine months of age, the two things Robert likes the most are Curious George and painting. He has watched the Curious George 2 movie innumerable times and also the episodes available on Netflix. His painting is very enthusiastic but usually very messy.

Robert communicates very well and sometimes makes grammatically complete sentences like “Robert did it.” (Although usually he claims someone else did it.) He is happy to tell us what he wants by naming it or saying “this” or “that”. He responds to questions with “no” or “O-KAY”.

He really likes his Christmas pajamas with a zipper and tells us to “bop it” (“zip it.”)

Robert very much admires his older brother Jason and imitates many of the things he says or does.

Robert Gets a Pumpkin

We recently went to Yorktown for pumpkin and apple picked.

Unfortunately, the place wasn’t as fun as we thought. There were one-hour lines to buy doughnuts, picks apples, and pick pumpkins. Instead of waiting 3+ hours, we went to Kmart and bought some nicer, bigger, cheaper pumpkins. Plus a bunch of toys.

Jason picked his own pumpkin and picked one for Robert.

Robert’s First Concert and Carnival Ride

This Sunday Robert went to his first concert and went on his first carnival ride.

In the early afternoon, we went to Mount Kisco where TJay was performing for the Mount Kisco Sales Day. This was very interesting for us, since Robert’s Mom and Dad saw TJay play in Pleasantville only a few weeks before Robert was born. He must have recognized the music, because he listed to the show attentively for an hour and a half. (Meanwhile, Jason was asleep.)

In the late afternoon, Robert and family went to the local church carnival where Robert rode on the Merry Go Round. He was very happy with the experience and had lots of fun!

Robert’s Expanding Vocabulary

Robert is now just over 1 year and 5 months old. At his last doctor’s visit he was 33 inches in height (82nd percentile) and 24 pounds 9 ounces in weight (40th percentile).

Besides getting a lot taller, he has also been speaking more. He can say many different words to cover a variety of topics.

The other day, we took some time to write down all of the words Robert can say. There are definitely more, but here are the ones we could think of, or that he was speaking throughout the day:

Robert in Bulgaria

Robert went on his second international trip. This time, he traveled to Bulgaria.

The long plane ride was a bit of a challenge for Robert, but once we arrived and settled in, he started to enjoy himself. He met some of his Bulgarian relatives for the first time, including his great grandmother.

Robert particularly liked playing in dirt, being in the pool, trying to whistle, and playing with the two children his age. By the end of the trip, Robert seemed to understand a lot of Bulgarian. We would tell him to do something in Bulgarian and he would immediately comply. He could also say several words in Bulgarian.
